A relatively short but very intense downpour, capable of dropping part of our province under water. Franciacorta is the area most affected by the violent storm on Friday afternoon: strong winds and hail did not spare Palazzolo, Colonia, Rovato, Paderno, Cazzago San Martino and Castegnato. These are the municipalities where the damage count is highest.
The historic center of Palazzolo is completely under water, the most critical situation in Piazza Roma: bars and businesses have been invaded by water. The railway underpass Sp 573 was flooded in the direction of Cologne. Similar situation in Paderno, where in 30 minutes some 53 millimeters of water fell: two women were trapped in a car inside the underpass of Sp 19, completely invaded by water. Fortunately, without dramatic consequences: they were rescued by the Firefighters and the Carabinieri.
Rovato’s main street has turned into an overflowing river with consequent flooding of basements, shops and houses located on the ground floor. Great damage also in the sports facility “Giulio and Silvio Pagani”: changing rooms and clubhouses were invaded by the rain.
Profane trees cut down in Castegnato: Vía Gallo was closed – due to the fall of one of the primary school pine trees – and Vía Cavour was invaded by water and mud.
