The Minister of Education Lucía Azzolina signed the Ordinance that defines the methods of carrying out educational activities for fragile students, that is, students with serious or immunosuppressed pathologies – with special attention to the latter – who would be exposed to a particularly high risk of contagion when attending to face-to-face classes. The Ordinance passed to the scrutiny of the Higher Council of Public Education.

The Ordinance aims to protect, at the same time, the right to study and the right to health of these students: schools will be able to use integrated digital learning or homeschooling for fragile students.

In cases of severe disability associated with certified frailty, in which it is necessary to guarantee the student’s presence in the classroom due to particular emotional situations, schools may adopt appropriate organizational forms to allow, even periodically, to attend classes.

These measures will be applied using the teachers already assigned to the class to which they belong and guaranteeing, in any case, face-to-face teaching to students with disabilities who do not fall into the category of fragile students.
