She has been locked in the house for a month and has lived in total isolation from the rest of her large family for more than 20 days. Now she wanders through the rooms of her house ‘armed’ with a cloth and disinfectant because the fear of infecting her children and her husband does not leave her for a second. A teacher from Rezzato tells us about her personal ordeal: a nightmare that has not yet completely ended, since her body has not yet defeated the virus and the symptoms, although mild, persist.
“I’m better than before, but I’m still weak and struggling to do the simplest things, like making a bed. The slightest effort is enough and she feels very dizzy ”, says the woman a Bresciatoday.it.
The 50-year-old educator is one of many long-term positives and is waiting to perform the third swab, repaired, after several ups and downs and some setbacks, on November 28. Daniela’s (made-name) ordeal began on October 24.
“I was fine, so much so that in the morning I went to see my elderly parents, whom I had not seen for a long time: after lunch I had a sudden collapse: pain in my legs and a very strong headache, the pressure dropped from suddenly. I immediately understood that it was not a trivial flu and that it was almost certainly Covid. “
The result of the swab carried out the next day – school personnel agree to the tests without reservation – confirmed the fears and Daniela was immediately isolated from the rest of the family. Then he picked up the phone and called all the people (friends and family) he had met previously to warn them: “Luckily I was on vacation that week and therefore the isolation protocol for the children and classmates from the nursery was not activated where job. Also, my acquaintances are all conscientious people and spontaneously isolate themselves. Ats called me 3 days after the result of the first swab and it took me about a week to reach all the close contacts that I had reported immediately. “
Her condition has never worsened to the point of requiring hospitalization, but she still faces the disease alone, locked in her home tavern. “The first 8 days were a real agony: I had no breathing problems, but I suffered from mind-blowing pain. I couldn’t get up and the pressure had dropped: I was 50 from 60 years old. Facing everything alone, with no one to hold your hand or hug you when you’re at your worst, it’s easy to panic. One night I woke up with an incredible pain in my head, when I opened my eyes I saw black and for a few seconds I even feared I was dead ”.
Fortunately, the woman’s condition gradually improved and 14 days after the appearance of the first symptoms, she performed the second smear: “But I was positive and maybe I still am, although I feel better,” she tells us.
After 21 days from the appearance of the first symptoms, he could also have returned to life as usual – as provided by the circular of the Ministry of Health for long-term positives, who have not manifested symptoms for at least a week – but After visiting her, the GP considered it appropriate to prolong the isolation: “Given the feeling of excessive fatigue that I feel at the least effort and the pressure that is still low, he preferred to prolong the quarantine and give me a third swab.
A test that I could have already done, but due to some misunderstandings and communication problems with Ats – useless calls to the number dedicated to the Covid emergency, you can never connect and answer an answering machine – you can only do the next 28 November, more than a month after the Covid diagnosis.
