The arrest of the three accountants near the Northern league involved in the investigation related to the sale at an inflated price of a property in Cormano, in the Milan area, and Lombardy Film Commission, a body controlled by the Lombardy Region. The three professionals are now under house arrest. The alleged crimes are embezzlement, alteration of freedom in the contractor’s election procedure and fraudulent tax evasion.

They arrest three accountants close to the League

The Milan Prosecutor’s Office ordered the arrest of Alberto Di Rubba, Andrea Manzoni and Michele Scillieri, in whose study, in 2017, the “Lega per Salvini premier” was domiciled. Scillieri’s brother-in-law, Fabio Giuseppe Barbarossa, is also under house arrest. This was announced in a note by the chief prosecutor Francesco Greco.

The three accountants, explains the prosecutor in a note, “were subjected to house arrest in execution of a precautionary measure issued by the Milan investigating judge” for the investigation of the Prosecutor’s Office on the case of the “alleged sale at an inflated price of a shed at the Lombardia Film Commission ”.

Due to the same incident, last July, Luca Sostegni, the front man for the sale, was arrested.

The history of Lega funds in Lombardy

According to Milanese prosecutors, Sostegni was Scillieri’s “straw head” for years. In July 2016, as the liquidator of Paloschi, he would have sold the Cormano warehouse to the Andromeda company, managed by Barbarossa, for 400 thousand euros.

A figure that, however, would never have been paid. Barbarroja, Scillieri’s brother-in-law, in 2017 would have sold the property to the Lombardia Film Commission Foundation for duplicate the figure, 800 thousand euros financed by the Region led at that time by Roberto Maroni.

Scillieri and the other two accountants, Manzoni and Di Rubba, raised most of the money. The latter was the president of the LFC, also appointed by the Maroni board.

Two years ago, the Bergamo offices of Manzoni and Di Rubba were searched by the Genoa Prosecutor as part of the investigation into 49 million euros of Lega Nord funds.

Manzoni and Di Rubba are also in the sights of investigators for 39 transfers received from Matteo Salvini’s party to a total of half a million euros.

League sources let it be known that the party is calm, sure that the investigation is destined to “end in nothing, like so many others who were looking for money in Russia, Switzerland or the world.”
