FOGGIA – The relatives of Fernando Cristiani, 86-year-old retired guest of the Rssa Palena Foundation in Foggia, filed a complaint with the Foggia Public Ministry, wrongly informed of the death of their relative. The old man, although in serious condition, is alive and is currently hospitalized at the Riuniti Polyclinic in Foggia.
For the 86-year-old man, positivity for Covid was determined on November 6 last when the outbreak broke out within the Palena Foundation, where the 69 guests and 28 health workers were infected. Structure then commissioned by the ASL of Foggia, which entrusted the management to the Universo Salute group.
Faced with the worsening of his condition, Cristiani had been transferred to the Foggia hospital. “We really want to understand who, from the emergency room, made the phone call the night of November 18 to 19 to inform the director of the nursing home of the death of my father-in-law,” says Paola Cristiani, the retiree’s daughter-in-law.
Specifically, the Cristiani family received a telephone call at their home from a landline number at 2:44, but the answering machine started up without any interlocutor saying a word; “While – rebuilding the old man’s daughter-in-law – the director of the facility received a phone call four minutes earlier from the emergency room during which they informed her of the death of my father-in-law.”
Only the next day, after arranging everything for the funeral, including the posters hanging in the city, did the Cristiani family learn that Fernando is still alive. “An emergency room nurse called us to inform us that my father-in-law is in serious condition but is still alive.”
Now we just want to accept who was guilty of this gesture ”, concludes Paola Cristiani.
