The impact was clearly felt in the city of Trento, even on the lower floors. Alarm and calls to 112 also in Rovereto and Riva del Garda.

The earthquake would be located in Croatia, in the Zagreb area: it follows a series of other earthquakes that were felt between yesterday afternoon in the Balkans and this morning at 9 in Crete, with grade 5 violence.

The earthquake of 12.23 is of provisional magnitude 6 occurred in Croatia and located about 24 kilometers from the capital Zagreb, and was felt in Italy, along the Adriatic coast, from Trieste to Abruzzo, and even in the area napolitana, according to first estimates of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (Ingv).

The epicenter of the strong 6.3 magnitude earthquake in Croatia was located around Petrinja, about fifty km south of Zagreb, a region already hit yesterday by earthquakes. Regional media speak of severe damage to Petrinja, with collapsed buildings, power outages and telephone lines. The earthquake was felt throughout Croatia, but also in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Today’s earthquake in Croatia was also felt very clearly in the capital Zagreb, where the electricity supply has failed and the population is scared.
The city was hit on March 22 by a strong 5.5 magnitude earthquake with serious material damage. Today is the most violent earthquake recorded in Croatia.
