Sardinia mourns the first victim of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Salvatore Nurra, 78, a retiree from Bonorva, died yesterday in the Aou di Sassari Infectious Diseases ward, where he was hospitalized on August 23 for Covid-19 positivity. The pensioner, who suffered from other serious illnesses, is the first registered victim on the island since July 6. Therefore, Covid deaths in Sardinia amount to 135 since the start of the health emergency.

73 NEW CASES – There are 73 new cases (65 from screening activities and 8 from suspected diagnosis) registered in the last 24 hours in Sardinia, where there was also the death of a 77-year-old patient, with previous serious pathologies, hospitalized in Sassari in therapy subintensive. Therefore, the deaths from Covid in Sardinia amount to 135 since the start of the health emergency, while the total of positive cases is 2,316. A total of 139,273 swabs were performed, an increase of 1,907 tests compared to the last update. 32 patients are hospitalized (+1 compared to yesterday’s figure). Currently, five patients are in intensive care. There are 872 people in home isolation. The progressive number of positive cases includes 1,268 recovered patients, plus another 4 clinically recovered. In the territory, of the 2,316 positive cases verified in total, 418 (+12) were detected in the metropolitan city of Cagliari, 233 (+1) in southern Sardinia, 76 (+9) in Oristano, 165 (+5) ) in Nuoro, 1,424 (+46) in Sassari.
