Born in 1926, he was born in Visnà di Vazzola into a family with strong Christian traditions and then always referred to Codognè, where the entire nucleus of Sessolo had in the meantime moved.
Three brothers are consecrated to religious life: together with Father Giovanni, Father Pietro alive, missionary of the Verbites in the province of Trento, and Sister Maurina, of the Giuseppine Daughters of Blessed Caburlotto, today in Spinea (Venice) after having served many. years in Vittorio Veneto.
Father Giovanni Sessolo leaves behind a great testimony of faith, pastoral commitment and humanity, and a vivid memory of all that is good lavished on his tireless action at the service of the Church, where he has always estimated and valued the role of Christian laity and its profound meaning. of the conciliar renewal.

Father Sessolo held several important positions during his life within the Congregation, and was also a missionary in Chile in the 1970s.
Later, the mark he left in particular in Follina, where he was prior and parish priest for six years, is indelible, very attentive to the pastoral dimension and also to the care and maintenance of the structures of the old abbey. Precisely because of his love for the Follinese basilica, in September 2017 the deceased religious participated with great joy in the inauguration of the new refuge and house of spirituality “Foresteria Santa Maria”.
Furthermore, his generous organization of summer stays at the Marian shrine in Pietralba (Bolzano) dates back to the period of his service in Follina, which continued for several years with the happy participation of a large group of Follinesi.
“He was intelligent, available and open to dialogue, and thanks to him our civil community has always found a beautiful understanding with the ecclesial. – Points Mario Collet, current mayor of Follina and also in the years of Father Sessolo, and recently I had been very happy to meet him during his summer stay at our abbey. After Follina, the deceased religious was in charge of the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie in Udine, then prior and parish priest in Mestre and in recent years he served in the sanctuary of Monte Bérico in Vicenza, with roles in the field of communication and the missions. .
His pastoral service is precious and always highly appreciated: in particular, as a testimony of his generosity, until a few months ago Fr. Giovanni was a confessor in the basilica of Vicenza and spent many hours listening and dialoguing with the faithful.
Also very attached to his deceased brothers Angelo and Anna, Father Sessolo leaves the religious Father Pietro and Sister Maurina, Giacinto, former mayor of Codognè, and Daniele, with their families, and their dear nephews Sessolo and Dal Ben in pain.
In the next few hours the date and time of the funeral will be set, at the end of which Father Giovanni will be buried in the family tomb in Codognè.
