Fatal Covid for 63 other Tuscans, some died weeks ago

FLORENCE – Two days ago 45 deaths, another 47 yesterday, today even 63, some occurred in the last weeks and registered only today in the regional bulletin: the tragic chain of deaths for Covid in Tuscany is not interrupted, which today amounted to 3,348 from the beginning of the pandemic. The new victims are 27 men and 36 women with an average age of 81 years. Regarding the province of residence, the deceased lived: 17 in Florence, 2 in Prato, 3 in Pistoia, 10 in Massa Carrara, 10 in Lucca, 5 in Pisa, 7 in Livorno, 1 in Arezzo, 3 in Grosseto, 5 residents outside of Tuscany.

Instead, new positives rose to 636, albeit in a smaller number of swabs compared to 24 hours ago, 11,545 of which only 4,188 were carried out in suspected cases, of which 15.2% were positive. The average age of 636 cases today is about 45 years.

Today there are 1,348 cured and bring the total to 96,638 (84.6% of those infected with Covid since February today.

Currently the positives are 14,260 today, 5.2% less than yesterday. Of these, there are 1,261 hospitalized (42 less than yesterday), of which 199 in intensive care (3 less).

Another 12,999 Covid-positive people are isolated at home with mild symptoms, no need for hospital care, or no symptoms (733 fewer than yesterday). In contrast, there are 26,748 (317 less than yesterday) people, also in isolation, under active surveillance because they have had contact with infected people (ASL Center 8,268, Northwest 14,100, Southeast 4,380).

The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change compared to yesterday:

– 31,869 cases in total to date in Florence (183 more than yesterday), 9,986 in Prato (41 more), 10,098 in Pistoia (36 more),

– 7,336 in Massa (36 more), 11,692 in Lucca (80 more), 15,955 in Pisa (101 more), 8,011 in Livorno (74 more),

– 10,172 in Arezzo (56 more), 4,615 in Siena (15 more), 3,957 in Grosseto (14 more).

555 positive cases were reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions. There are 274 cases found today in the ASL Center, 278 in the Northwest, 85 in the Southeast.

Tuscany is still 10th in Italy in terms of the number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with approximately 3,063 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (the Italian average is 3,128 x 100,000, yesterday’s figure). The provinces with the highest notification rate are Prato with 3,875 cases x 100,000 inhabitants, Pisa with 3,808, Massa Carrara with 3,764, and the lowest Siena with 1,727.

The 3,348 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic are divided as follows: 1,139 in Florence, 227 in Prato, 259 in Pistoia, 367 in Massa Carrara, 305 in Lucca, 376 in Pisa, 247 in Livorno, 199 in Arezzo, 105 in Siena, 81 in Grosseto, 43 people died on Tuscan soil but were residents outside the region.

Tuscany’s crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 89.8 x 100,000 residents versus 110.2 x 100,000 for the Italian average (11th region). Regarding the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (188.3 x 100 000), Florence (112.6 x 100 000) and Pisa (89.7 x 100 000), the lowest in Grosseto (36.5 x 100,000).
