Extraordinary competition, 7,000 precarious teachers could be detained at home. UIL: damage to be repaired like the others

UIL – The new Dpcm, to counter the ongoing pandemic, provides for strict measures in relation to the worsening of the situation. At the heart of the provision is the recommendation – with the reinforcement “strongly” – addressed to all natural persons not to travel in public or private means of transport, in municipalities other than those of residence or domicile.

It is assumed that it is dangerous for oneself and for others, but not to the point of suspending public and private tenders that are maintained in derogation of the general provisions. This competition must be done: it is the mantra of Minister Azzolina who, in a visceral way, carries it out against all common sense and out of the real context in progress – observes with great concern the Secretary General of Uil Scuola, Pino Turi.

At this point, at least two legitimate questions arise:

1) Are the CTS security procedures still in force, carried out in a situation of medium severity, now that the contagion rate has increased to the point of requiring a further tightening of mobility?
2) Can such a contradiction be admitted? Or should we continue to believe the narrative that school is the safest place, that in any case it is necessary to reach it, by public and private means, the same inhibited by the majority?

The figures offered by the ministry speak for themselves: the contest of 1,645 teachers has already started, 187 teachers did not show up (11.4%). Unable to attend temporary workers or repentant teachers?

There are 62,300 teachers left who will have to venture into a much worse climate.

If we consider stable the participation figure offered by the ministry (80.6%) of the total audience of teachers in the contest, there will be at least 7,000 people who will not be able to participate.

A confidential contest that does not allow thousands of people to be accessed is outraged and unacceptable. A damage that they suffer without fault or responsibility.

Doesn’t it deserve a soda, as in other cases?

It seems shameful to have towards these workers the insensitivity and ideological hatred that is emerging.
A way of proceeding, which also finds dissension in other labor sectors, which is amplified at school.
Teachers are at the forefront and feel sacrificed by an insensitive policy that offers no guarantees for their health in the face of a pandemic that leaves no room for defense other than the distancing that teachers cannot put into practice.

They are proud to serve the country, but they have the right to be considered. Treated as numbers and not as people.
We will do everything in our power to represent them along with all Ata teachers, managers and staff.

We need another policy – underlines Turi – that of a new humanism that has a positive effect on the entire community. Politics, intermediate bodies, representative organizations cannot turn their heads the other way and we will not. We are witnessing an ugly drift that unloads on the best part of the population the tensions and internal struggles of a bad policy, now intolerable. We must react and we will do so as soon as possible with all the means that the democratic order offers us.
