Extortion of the priest after a sexual relationship: two brothers in prison

Red light extortion against a Paduan priest.

Two Moroccan brothers in their 20s and 40s blackmailed the prelate after the minor had had sex with him. They asked him 40 thousand euros not to divulge what happened inside the priest’s house.

The events happened last week. The parish priest allegedly had a consensual relationship with the twenty-year-old, who helped him with some work for the parish. On the way home, the young man spoke of what happened with his brother. The two immediately returned to the parish priest: “Either you give us 40,000 euros or we will tell the whole town what happened.”

The priest initially tried to collect the large sum of money, but by failing to do so he agreed to a much smaller sum, 4 thousand euros. Then, desperate, he turned to the carabinieri and told them everything: “It was a moment of weakness, it was the first time.”

The military followed him to the place where the priest had made an appointment with his torturers. He handed over the 4,000 euros in cash, but the brothers shortly after found the carabinieri in the ribs and both ended up handcuffed.

The Diocese of Treviso today expresses “pain” over the matter. The Bishop of Treviso, Monsignor Michele Tomasi, “is informed and follows closely, expressing confidence in the work of the police and judicial authorities.” And about what happened “reserves the right to evaluate the behavior and position of the priest.”
