Operation against online child pornography. The State Police of Catania and Messina, coordinated by the district attorney’s office of the city of the Strait, investigated six people for the detention and disclosure of child pornography.
The investigations started from complaint from a teenage mother, a resident of the province of Peloritán, who had noticed the presence on her daughter’s smartphone of several chat sessions carried out with individual users, with the exchange of photos and videos of naked minors in erotic poses. The provinces affected by the searches were Messina, Catania, Palermo, Milan, Naples and Teramo.
The woman spontaneously handed over the mobile device to postal police personnel who acquired the content of the phone and, in particular, of the WhatsApp communications. In-depth studies are underway to verify priming methods. In addition to the six suspected adults, some minor users were identified and reported to the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.
During the searches computers and smartphones were seized, identifying themselves already in the computer search phase child pornography images. The investigations were conducted by the Postal Police under the direction of the National Center for the Counterfeiting of Child Pornography Online of the Postal Police and Communications Service.
