The examination was possible thanks to a modern technique that allowed extrapolation of the fetus’ DNA with tests carried out on the mother’s blood. A subsequent DNA extraction will be performed on the newborn for further confirmation.

The suspect, during the interrogation of the Mobile Brigade of the Enna Police Headquarters, had confessed to the crime and had been arrested. The disposition was later confirmed by the investigating judge. The prosecutor also acquired the expertise of two experts, a neuropsychiatrist and a psychologist who supported what the witnesses said to the police: the total inability of the young woman to consent to sexual intercourse, since she responds with difficulty to basic needs.

An investigative hypothesis emerging is that “the suspect has repeated the crime of sexual violence over time.” Investigations are underway to verify whether the man has had other women in foster homes in Enna Oasis. At the end of the analysis of the data collected by the mobile team, the prosecutor will evaluate the convenience of arranging medical controls to verify the hypothesis of cases of possible sexual violence against other guests of the structure.
