Now the objective of the health authority of our country is to prevent the spread of this coronavirus mutation.
For this reason, the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, has ordered the temporary interruption of flights with Great Britain. The same policy was also adopted by the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Ireland and France, which announced the suspension of passenger flights from the UK. The danger of this variant of the virus spreading is high, also because it would have the ability to spread faster than the “classic” Covid-19. “We are fine,” they told the doctors who are monitoring them. Military health care raised the alarm about the presence in Italy of this new variant of Covid-19. The scientific department of the Celio Military Polyclinic has sequenced the genome “of the Sars-Cov-2 virus from a subject who tested positive for the variant found in recent weeks in Great Britain,” read a press release.
Meanwhile, yesterday, on one of the last flights connecting Italy with England, there were lively protests from passengers. These are travelers on the London Stansted – Pescara flight that landed shortly before 7:00 p.m. at Abruzzo airport.
Passengers must observe the mandatory 14-day quarantine.
Well, the travelers objected, in particular, that the rules changed while they were in flight and that therefore the swabbing carried out, according to protocol, in the 48 hours prior to departure would be useless.
On board the plane were several people who planned to stop over in Italy for just a few days, for Christmas. However, Border Police officers contained the protests and provided travelers with information on the measures taken due to the Covid-19 variant that is circulating in London and southern England.
The mutation of the virus has imposed the application of much stricter rules. And while the swab examination was deemed sufficient to avoid quarantine, extreme caution will now be required. Passengers on one of the last 2020 flights from Great Britain will have to travel in isolation.
