177 Apulian residents tested positive for coronavirus after returning from vacation in Malta, Greece, Sardinia, Spain and Croatia. The highest number of cases was diagnosed in people returning from Sardinia, 59 positive; Malta follows, 50 cases; Greece, 42; Spain, 20; and Croatia 6 infections. There are currently 1,086 positive Apulians. The numbers were posted by Governor Michele Emiliano on his Facebook page. “The epidemiological investigations – he stressed – are very precise and tell us that the outbreaks in Apulia were not generated by tourists arriving in Puglia. I remind you that our prevention departments have always actively monitored arrivals from outside the region without stopping for a day. Most of our outbreaks, the governor added, were born to Apulian residents returning from vacation in certain places that seemed quiet but later turned out to be highly exposed to the coronavirus. These people then had close contacts that, isolated and monitored, Emiliano concluded, in some cases turned positive.
