Bologna, March 16, 2020 – Elderly abused in the nursing home, theOperation ‘Inferno’ in Emilia Romagna. At the end of an investigation called “Inferno”, the Carabinieri of the Nas of Bologna have 4 people detained (under house arrest), two in Modena, one in Bologna and one in Reggio Emilia: I am the manager of a shelter for the elderly and 3 collaborators, all accused of mistreatment, lack of help and abusive practice of the health profession.
The research activity allowed to identify the Systematic and continuous vexatious, violent and threatening mode and insults with which the suspects related to 9 seniors, guests from more than eighty of the structure, who were also administered non-prescription therapies.
The investigation also revealed an episode of lack of assistance against an elderly guest of the family home, 83, who later died of natural causes, hospitalized last January at Bazzano Hospital suspicious injuries to warrant a report from hospital management.
From that episode, the investigations were developed during the period of national “closure”, first monitoring the structure initially active in Valsamoggia (Bologna) and subsequently arbitrarily transferred to a hotel in Zocca (Modena), after the transfer, by the owner of the family home, of the property where the business was located.
Then, the woman continued her activity inside a hotel, in violation of the discipline that regulates the functioning of social assistance structures for the elderly, in the belief that she could gain anonymity with the consequent avoidance of inspections, not only from a fiscal point of view, but also from the burden of having to apply security measures in the workplace and prevention of the epidemic contagion of Covid-19.
The 3 collaborators challenge each other violations related to the activation of a social assistance structure due to the lack of authorization, the abuse in the administration of medicines, the lack of organizational and management procedures as well as the absence of regular employment contracts of
employed workers.
