A man in obvious drunkenness first targeted a passerby by pulling him from behind and throwing a bottle at him, then hit a pharmacist at the Filipponi pharmacy in the chest and wounded two policemen who intervened to arrest him.
“I was walking around here on Corso Garibaldi when the man, obviously drunk and almost six feet tall, approached me from behind, who first gave me a push and then started insulting me – says Claudio Biagiola, a pensioner from Montefano who was in town to attend a concert -. Then the man walked into a bar and when he came out he turned to me with a full bottle of beer in his hand. Understanding his intentions and the fact that he had already signed me up, I tried to escape and took refuge in the pharmacy trying to get to the back to save myself but a bottle hit me on the head.
“When the two of them entered, as well as the employees, there were also some clients who fled after the drunk began to shout ‘go away’ – says the pharmacist Lucio Campolungo -. Biagiola entered and immediately took refuge in the back of the pharmacy in an attempt to escape the man but was hit by the bottle. Then the attacker, while holding and beating him, kept babbling nonsensical phrases like “we were in the army together” and blamed us all. At that point I tried to distract him and calm him down by asking him why he was acting like this and he even took it out on me by punching me in the chest. We were very afraid and then the police intervened, we contacted each other and detained him ».
The man was blocked, not without problems, since before being arrested and taken to the police station, he also attacked the two policemen who ended up in the hospital; his conditions are not serious. On the ground, the Volante staff led by Chief Commissioner Lorenzo Commodo and the comrades of the Mobile Squad, headed by Chief Commissioner Matteo Luconi. The 35-year-old Romanian was arrested.
