The judge accepted the defense’s request and also decided to revoke the house arrest
The gup of the Court of Bari Annachiara Mastrorilli has indicted the former judge of the Council of State Francesco Bellomo for the crime of persecutory acts (retraining against the original accusation of mistreatment) to two women, former scholars of its Training School to prepare for the ‘Law and Science’ contest in the judiciary, which would also have imposed on the dress code. The trial will begin on December 3, 2020 before the Single Court.
The GUP accepted the request of Bellomo’s defenders, replacing the precautionary measure of house arrest with the less distressing prohibition of approaching.
The judge, as the Review and the Court of Cassation had already done in the precautionary phase, converted the charge of extortion alleged against Bellomo into private violence and declared the no place to proceed for this crime by prescription. The accusation was related to an episode in 2011 against another former student, for having forced her to leave her job at a local radio station. The gup of the Bari Annachiara Mastrorilli Court accepted the request of the Bellomo defenders, replacing the precautionary measure of house arrest with the less distressing prohibition of approaching. In the framework of this process, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Roberto Rossi and the prosecutor Daniela Chimienti, Bellomo was arrested for the first time on July 8, 2019. Twenty days later the Court of Review had revoked the precautionary measure by ordering the interdiction of twelve months. The Public Ministry then challenged and after the favorable ruling of the Supreme Court, the new judges of the Bari Freedom Court, on July 10, had reinstated the house arrest measure, now revoked.
“In any case, I suffered ‘love persecution’,” declared Francesco Bellomo, after the lifting of the house arrest. “I will write novels – he announces – also because I have so many things to say about this story that I have not told and sooner or later I will have to. There is much more, much more and worse ”.
“Now I am focused on the procedures, I am interested in that” says Bellomo speaking of his future and the possibility of returning to teaching. “And then I write books, I will publish it shortly, I complete the trilogy because I have made a penal system, an administrative one and now I complete it with a civil one. I have written 2500 pages, plus the trials, I have less time now than when I was working.” Regarding his assignment to the Council of State, “I hope to return,” he says, recalling that “an appeal is pending before the TAR of Lazio against my dismissal” and pointing out that the accusations of slander and threats against Giuseppe Conte in the disciplinary process “do not exist. “.
