Italy in Red zone since December 24 to January 6, but only holidays and days before holidays. The rest of the days will be the orange zone. This is the orientation that emerges, according to government sources, from the summit of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte with the majority of the heads of delegation and Minister Boccia. Now there will be a confrontation with the regions and tonight, at 6:00 p.m., the CDM that will have to give rise to the definitive measures that Conte must later illustrate in an evening press conference.
The penal front, led by Ministers Boccia and Speranza, would have wanted the red zone to be perfect from December 24 to January 6, but in the end the compromise prevailed in most: red zone intermittently, therefore, but no more with the yellow zone, but precisely with the orange. Therefore, during the entire vacation period, it will be prohibited to leave the borders of the municipality without proven reasons of health, work, necessity or urgency. The inter-region travel ban, on the other hand, begins on December 21. Exceptions are provided for those who have to regroup with their spouse in the house of habitual residence (even if it is not the designated residence) or, for separated parents, who can join the minor child entrusted to the former spouse (obviously taking into account the commitments assumed respectively to be separated).
The repeal for municipalities with less than 15 thousand inhabitants
As announced in recent days, the government has thought of an exemption for small municipalities: during the holiday period it will be possible to leave the territory of the centers with less than 5,000 inhabitants, within a radius of 30 kilometers. But be careful: however, you will not be able to travel to go to the provincial capitals, even if they are within a radius of 30 km.
The knot of the orange regions
There remains the issue of the regions that are currently orange but were waiting to turn yellow next Sunday. These are Tuscany, Valle d’Aosta, Campania and the autonomous province of Bolzano (Abruzzo would be the only one that would remain orange). What will the Ministry of Health decide to do? Will you “promote” them to yellow even if they are destined to turn red after just four days, along with the rest of Italy? Common sense would suggest leaving things as they are, but that would mean avoiding them from reaching for the only useful window to do so: December 20. The promotion to yellow, in fact, would be effective on Sunday 20, the last possible day to move between regions.
