The center of Minsk is served by a large contingent of law enforcement officers, who have closed access to the Independence Square and other emblematic places of the capital, such as the October Square and the Independence Palace. According to the Tut.by portal, “tens of thousands of people” took to the streets in Minsk alone on the occasion of the 29th day of protest (the opposition called it the March of Unity). But other unauthorized marches are taking place in Mogilev, Brest, Grodno.
Several thousand participants in the protests in the Belarusian capital are heading to the Independence Palace, the residence of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. Tass reports it. Police warn protesters that the demonstration is illegal, but they do not prevent them from moving. Law enforcement agencies invite journalists to stay away from Palazzo Indipendenza even after reviewing the documents. During the course of the day, journalists were detained in various parts of the city to verify documents and asked to work in bulletproof vests. The police have installed water cannons, armored vehicles and barbed wire in the streets near the building.
