Double homicide in Calabria. A man and a woman were found dead in the Reggio area. They are Giuseppe Controneo, fifty-eight, and his wife Francesca Musolino, fifty-one. According to an initial reconstruction, the two spouses were shot and killed while harvesting olives near a farmhouse in Calanna, in the province of Reggio Calabria. It was one of the couple’s two sons who found their parents dead and raised the alarm. He would have heard shots from afar. The terrible discovery would have taken place today at lunchtime, Wednesday, December 9. The help was useless, for the couple there was nothing to do.

Carabinieri investigations, no hypothesis excluded about double murder – At the scene, in the Reggino countryside, the carabinieri intervened and are carrying out the conclusions of the case and are trying to reconstruct the dynamics of the crime. The investigations are coordinated by the Reggio Calabria Deputy Prosecutor Gerardo Dominijanni and the current prosecutor Flavia Modica. Investigators, at the moment, do not rule out any hypotheses about the motive for the murders.

Mayor’s condolences – According to initial information released by local media, the brutally murdered couple were well known, respected and loved in the country. The first citizen Domenico Romeo wanted to express all his condolences: “They were two good people dedicated to the work at the Reggio Calabria polyclinic and to the family. At this moment I can only express absolute dismay regarding an event so violent that it has touched two fellow citizens who were part of our community and raised their two children here. They were brutally murdered while working their campaign with dedication. “
