The swabs performed by the Ausl on the 54 people, including Ata students, teachers and staff from Don Minzoni Primary School and Calvino de Piacenza Secondary School, ended up in isolation after detecting positivity for Coronavirus in two siblings, they were all negative . who attended both schools. The home quarantine had been imposed, as required by current procedures, by the Ausl Department of Public Health.

The measure was necessary because two brothers, belonging to the same family, tested positive for the smear. The two boys had attended classes at the school the previous days. On Friday, September 18, all interested parties were subjected to investigations.

Despite the negativity found, the law establishes that the period of home isolation continues to be respected, to prevent the disease from developing later. The isolation period is expected to start counting from the last contact at risk, therefore from September 17. It was decided to carry out the swab immediately because from the first contact, which occurred on September 14 with the beginning of school, five days had already elapsed: enough time to identify the positivizations.

The families of the children in the two quarantined classes wonder how they should behave during this rest period. “The ideal – explains Marco Delledonne, Director of the Department of Public Health at Ausl – It would be that the children stayed in their rooms and that they had dedicated bathrooms but I understand that this will be almost impossible, because we are talking about quite young children. So let’s say it should be a resident adult to take care of them. I do not recommend grandparents, given their age at risk, although there is no prohibition on the use of babysitters, especially if they already frequent the house, but it would be better to avoid it if possible ”.

There has already been a case of a three-year-old boy who tested positive for Covid in the nursery of Our Lady of Lourdes. But in that case, no close contacts emerged from the epidemiological investigation, since the child was on the first day of school, he was doing the insertion and in fact he spent all his time in the garden away from his classmates. The swabs performed on six children and teachers were proposed by Ausl as a precaution and positively received by the families.
