On Christmas Day, after great suffering due to Covid, Bishop Bartolomeo Bessone, parish priest of Dogliani and Vicar General Emeritus. He was 72 years old and 48 of priestly ordination. He was born in Chiusa Pesio on June 6, 1948. The rector of the Combe village, Don Cristoforo Carlevaris, sent him to the Seminary, where he completed his studies and training. On July 2, 1972, a memorable day for Chiusa Pesio, Don Meo was ordained a priest together with Don Luca Giaccaria in the parish church of S. Antonino, by Bishop Francesco Brustia. He held numerous positions of responsibility: vice-rector of the major seminary from 1972 to 1974, animator of the minor seminary from 1974 to 1977, rector of the episcopal college in 1977-78 and then rector of the single diocesan seminary from 1978 to 1983. He was parish priest of Mondovì Breo and Pian della Valle from 1983 to 1986 and then pastor of Mondovì Carassone and S. Quintino from 1986 to 2002. Vicar General of the Diocese from 2000 to 2018, rector of the Basilica Sanctuary of Vicoforte from 2002 to 2018. On July 29, 2018 was appointed pastor of Dogliani. He was Canon of the Cathedral since 2000 and chaplain of His Holiness with the title of Monsignor since January 28, 2019. The figure of Don Meo, as he is known familiarly, stands out for his multiple human gifts and spirit of prayer, for the welcoming way of treating everyone, for the attention devoted to the brother priests.
On Sunday, December 27 at 4:00 p.m., the Rosary will be said at the Shrine of the Nativity of Mary “Regina Montis Regalis” in Vicoforte. La Salma will arrive in Dogliani on Monday, December 28 at around 6:00 p.m. and the Rosary will be celebrated at 8:00 p.m. The funeral mass, presided over by the bishop, will be on Tuesday, December 29 at 11 am in the Parish of Saints Quirico and Paolo in Dogliani. At 2.30 pm the body will arrive at the Sanctuary of Vicoforte for a brief liturgy of the Word, then it will be transferred to the Chiusa di Pesio Cemetery to be buried.
