The Minister of Education Lucía Azzolina signed, on November 2, the decree that assigns to schools the 85 million euros for integrated digital education allocated by the ‘Decree of Refreshments’ in the Council of Ministers of last October 27. The Ministry communicates it. The funds will be used to purchase digital devices and tools for connections that will be provided on loan for use by female students and less well-off students.
“As a Ministry, we have never stopped investing in digital technology in recent months. We will continue to do so. We have put resources in tablets, PCs and connections, but also in the training of teachers and staff. We also look beyond the emergency: they are all investments that remain in the school ”, declares the Minister of Education, Lucía Azzolina.
The 85 million were distributed taking into account the number of students in each school and the ESCS indicator of the OECD that allows identifying schools with a context of greater socioeconomic distress and where digital equipment is less widespread. The same parameter was used in March for the distribution of resources for digital teaching foreseen by the ‘Cura Italia’ decree.
Lombardy – specifies the Ministry – has assigned resources amounting to 12,210,621.80 euros, distributed in 1,139 Institutes.
The other investments
Thanks to the funds allocated since March – continues the Ministry – 432,330 devices have already been purchased nationwide and more than 100,000 connections.
More tools will be made available through specific notices on the PON resources that will allow the rental of digital teaching aids for this course and also thanks to a decree of 3.6 million, signed on October 27 by the Ministry of Education , which will guarantee the connection and, therefore, integrated digital education, to secondary school students who still lack it.
Finally, it should be remembered that schools have bought devices and technologies even with the 331 million euros paid directly to the Institutes for the restart in September. Schools also have 1.2 million devices in their labs that were already made available to students during the first phase of the health emergency.
