QUATTRO CASTELLA (Reggio Emilia) – Marco Colli, president of the La Favorita cooperative that manages the Montecavolo pool, passed away during the night. He was 70 years old and for a few days he was in the hospital, in Santa Maria Nuova, after contracting Covid19. His heart could not cope with the complications of the disease. Colli was well known in the city and beyond. Solar person, worker, was always at the forefront for the good of the community. He leaves his wife Daniela Catellani and children Andrea and Elena (manager of the Culture, Sports and Leisure sector of the Municipality of Casalgrande), as well as his granddaughters Karen Colli and Gabriela Cavalcanti.
The memory of the Quattro Castella Town Hall
A tireless worker, Colli has never shied away from lending a hand to initiatives of solidarity and support for the most vulnerable people. Unforgettable, in this sense, the “Notti dello Sport”, organized in the pool, in collaboration with the Italian Paralympic Committee. But also the same spirit with which he guided the pool, turning it into an open and welcoming sports center for the weakest (children, the elderly, the disabled), in dialogue with the schools and associations in the area.
In recent years, together with the coaches of the Terre Matildiche sports center, he had created one of the most popular summer camps for children and young people in Castellesi.
His “voice” and his smile, always ready to joke, accompanied the days of hundreds of thousands of pool users.
His daughter Elena, currently administrator of the Municipality of Casalgrande, was councilor for productive activities of the Municipality of Quattro Castella for four years.
“We are disoriented and saddened by the disappearance of Marco – comments the mayor of Quattro Castella Alberto Olmi – We have worked together until the last days to complete the renovation of the outdoor area of the pool. At our last meeting, he forcefully conveyed his desire and determination to complete the activities he was following. I consider his last battle that we fought together to manage the summer in the pool as a nice gift where, with all the precautions and difficulties of the moment, he managed to prepare everything to allow the resumption of sports activities and create a space next to the Library. for Summer Cinema magazine. In the projects that he followed, he left us a legacy of relationships and possibilities that belongs to all of us ”.
