The virologist Andrea Crisanti responded to the controversy over some of his statements about the covid vaccine.

“Without data I cannot do it. Because I want to be sure that it has been tested and meets all criteria for safety and efficacy. As a citizen I have the right to do so, I am not willing to accept shortcuts ”.

These are the words of the virologist Andrea Crisanti, about the anti-covid vaccine, launched the day before yesterday at Focus Live, the “Focus” science popularization festival.

Words that aroused the reaction of a part of the scientific world. “Professor Crisanti’s statements about the anti-Covid vaccine are very serious” said infectious disease specialist Matteo Bassetti.

Anti-covid vaccine, Chrysants: “It must be tested, period!”

Crisanti, however, seems to have no intention of rectifying his statements and, in fact, in an interview with Messenger Service reaffirms the concept.

“I am not a non-vax but I believe that such unorthodox behavior in the distribution of an important product may precisely favor the approach of those who are against vaccines.”

The virologist explained that some vaccines were withdrawn after going into production: “Because maybe it was proven that they did not work or because complications appeared.”

He also noted in the interview that the vaccine companies obtained state funding in advance and that “They were able to allow themselves to do everything in a hurry because all economic risk falls on who puts the money.”

“A vaccine is a vaccine when its creator has convinced the scientific community, not when they decide” the virologist continued. “It has to be tested and it has to meet all the criteria for safety and efficacy, period.”

In another interview with TPI, Cisanti said that he probably intercepted some perplexities from ordinary people: “If 70% of Italians are skeptical of the vaccine, there will be a reason: or are they all idiots?”
