Maria, a guest of an RSA from Lunigiana, in Tuscany, was born in 1914 and so has memories of the terrible years between 1918 and 1920, when that flu killed millions of people around the world.
The woman, a survivor of two global pandemics, is among the 400 elderly people who were vaccinated on the second day of operations in the “residences” of the northwestern territory of the Region and one of the two older than 100 years who received the anti- Covid in Tuscany. The other person who has passed the century of life is from Lucca, she from Lunigiana.
María is a guest of the RSA company, one of the few structures that, despite the wave of infections that has also affected that territory, has remained free of Covid. Until January 2019, María lived alone in Grondola, part of the municipality of Pontremoli (Massa Carrara). He is now in a facility where operators are working these days to vaccinate all the guests. On December 31, 11 establishments participated in the operation and on New Year’s Day another 180 elderly residents in the Rsa area are expected to be vaccinated.
