From Pomezia to Pomezia: in a few steps the vaccine from the manufacturer who will keep it to certify the administration. The Defense site in Pratica di Mare, precisely in the hamlet of the municipality of Pomezia (Rome), will be the national storage center for the anti-Covid 19 vaccination campaign that the Italian government is preparing. This was announced, according to Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini and Health Minister Roberto Speranza, the extraordinary commissioner for the emergency Domenico Arcuri. A large-scale military intermodal center, optimal for subsequent vaccine distribution, capable of housing air carriers, helicopters, and a center of gravity for road connectivity.

Pratica di Mare, vaccines stored at the military base

The Pratica di Mare base is among the most advanced in Europe for the fight against pandemics, equipped with modern and proven equipment at the service of highly trained personnel of the Armed Forces. Over the years, military aeronautics has developed an intervention capacity that has become a model in the rest of the countries that send their personnel to be trained in this structure.

The vaccine vials will be concentrated on site, where large shelters will be available, ensuring maximum efficiency for storage and maximum levels of security for stocks. The vaccines will then be distributed from there, by the Armed Forces with different carriers, to the numerous administration points that the plan has provided throughout the national territory, again in conditions of maximum security.

Pomezia is in evidence on the world stage of the fight against Covid because it houses the headquarters of the Irbm whose CEO and president is Piero Di Lorenzo: it is the company that is dedicated to the realization of the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine, among which will reach the clinics as soon as possible.
