Liguria. There are 66,300 people under the age of i Age 65 who will receive the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine in the next few weeks: This is what the plan for phase 3 of the Liguria Region envisages, illustrated this afternoon at a press conference, which will therefore begin in parallel with phase 2 aimed at people over eighty years of age who will instead use vaccines Pfizer and Moderna.

The novelty, however, is that the AstraZeneca vaccine, as a result of a ministry circular sent on February 22 to health companies, can also be administered to “vulnerable” people (excluding the “extremely vulnerable” according to the definition of the government, who fall under the Pfizer-Modern plan) with less than 65 years. “They will be identified through a census of family doctors to which Alisa is sending the ballots. The commitment is leave as soon as possible to vaccinate them, also in parallel with the priority categories“Explains the prevention director Alisa Filippo Ansaldi.

However, we will start with the priority categories indicated by the Ministry of Health.. The largest portion is represented by teaching and non-teaching school personnel, about 40 thousand people in Liguria, who will have to contact their family doctor directly for the reservation and administration. Unlike what was announced yesterday by President Toti, the system will be online as of March 8, so Starting March 9, doctors will be able to make an appointment for their patients. The vaccinations will be carried out in the following days, depending on the availability of the doses, which will be kept in the refrigerators of the pharmacists.

The second most important category is that of personnel and civil protection volunteers, 10 thousand people. For them, access to the vaccine is provided through a family doctor, but also through ASL clinics, so the modalities are still being evaluated.

Amount to 11 thousand members of the police in Liguria: they too will be able to start receiving doses of AstraZeneca and the administration will take place independently at their respective headquarters. Instead, a residual part might require ASL intervention. The plan is coordinated directly by the prefectures and should be completed in March.

Employees of the Local police and those of the judicial offices, a total of 4 thousand people in Liguria (but the recognition is still in progress) who will have to follow the same procedures valid for school personnel: reservation with your doctor from March 9 and vaccination in the office. .

To these categories must be added the 1,300 inmates in Ligurian prisons who will be vaccinated directly by the prison. The option of identifying them as a priority category is given by the fact that they are closed communities where the risk of uncontrolled outbreaks is much higher than in other places.

To prevent some astute from getting the vaccine without being entitled to it, aself certification (with all the criminal consequences foreseen in case of false statements), but not only: “Interlocutions are being carried out with the ministry to receive the lists of teachers – explains Ansaldi – then the judicial process does not correspond to the world of health, but we will have the opportunity to cross-check. We want to proceed as quickly as possible. “

The time will depend largely on the administration of the doses. According to Alisa’s current forecast, 80,100 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine should be available as of March 31. If the figures were respected, the first tranche of under 65s could be completed in a month.
