I have read about the reported side effects regarding experimenting with Vaccine for COVID-19: dizziness, pain in the arm where the injection was given with a stiff chest, swelling of the lymph nodes, “heaviness” when walking due to generalized numbness of the joints – all for two or three days. Neither more nor less than what I remember of the good except that then every three of us saw robust ‘puppets’ passed out, more from the impression than from anything else – said the lieutenant doctor and the Herculean nurse, the latter more careful that the fainted man had not been injured than to reassure us when rest of us, who in any case, shortly after, might have suffered the same fate.
It was one vaccination like an elephant of a lifetime ago, but of beautiful youth and therefore endured as if it were a joke. It ‘covered’ all that syringe – the corporals who had already passed were anticipating laughing, who knows, maybe they too fainted at the ‘mustache’ (the ‘v’ on the sleeve of the jacket that marked the passage to the first ‘command’ it was called like that).
In fact it was: “broad spectrum”: in fact I only remember one case of meningitis, fortunately not fatal, in the regiment, and the persistent acrid smell of the following continuous disinfestations bedrooms (it was winter, they had provided us with extra blankets because some windows had to stay open or almost even at night: I speak of more than 50 years ago, when in the barracks the ‘Celtic room’ was finally used as a bar with a large supply of Vecchia Romagna brandy rather than potassium permanganate; condoms had been perfected, you see, and certain practices during the war and some years after became part of military ‘history’).
Now I see a completely different movie on television in that circumstance: syringes single use only, almost invisible needles, care of the operator in ‘punctures’, pleased collaboration of the ‘punctured’ (we are on TV …), and masks and bet from blue colors to dress the ice that surrounds it, as if it were a game. Or a movie indeed. And no one to pass out. A wonder if I think of those “floods” of tincture of iodine in that barracks from my early years.
Unfortunately, it is not a film, apart from the scenography of the television series, but an operation of hopeful faith in this ‘modern’ vaccine to try to put at least a patch on a situation that was planned for a long time. but not taken into consideration for a certain perverse policy (which should be severely punished, and not only in our country).
It will be my turn in a few months, because they are not among the most fragile, even if in the age group among the most prone to ‘exitus’: will I wait, if I am still on this earth, even if I have only acquired a few, eventually? – comforting evidence on the actual usefulness of this vaccine modern (ah, I must specify that that elephant vaccine I came out brilliantly for the next 54 years) So if necessary, I will also do this, ‘film’ or not. Who knows if it will allow me a beautiful sunset for a few more years, because then frankly worrying when there are already a lot of springs and sunsets is useless …
