First hospitals and RSA
On this, the commissioner has no doubts: “It seems a priority – he writes – to safeguard those places that during the pandemic represented the main channel of contagion and spread of the virus”, starting with “hospitals and residential centers for the elderly.”
After having destined the first anti-Covid vaccines to the “main channel of contagion and spread”, such as hospitals and RSA, “so that the other vaccines arrive, destined, instead, to all the others categories of citizens, different methods of administration will be provided, in line with ordinary vaccination management, through a large-scale campaign (for example, drive-through) from people with a high level of frailty, “the communication reads seen by theAdnkronos.
Storage and management
“The delivery characteristics of this first vaccine require, to ensure its integrity, that it be delivered exclusively by the supplier directly to each administration point (in special storage bags that contain a maximum of 5 boxes of 975 doses each). In addition, the conservation characteristics of these first doses of vaccine allow them to be maintained for:
- 15 days from delivery in supplier’s storage bags;
- 6 months, if you have cold rooms at a temperature of -75 ° C + -15 ° C “.
“The characteristics of the administration – the document is read again – require that the vaccine be used within 6 hours after removal from the bags or from the storage cell. Also consider that each vial of vaccine contains 5 doses. “
The request to the Regions
Commissioner Arcuri asks the Regions to start working on the anti-Covid vaccine plan, already beginning to identify the most suitable structures. Timely communications must be sent before November 23.
“In order to define the viability plan of this first administration phase – the text says – it is necessary that the regions he presides over identify, in each province, adequate structures capable of respecting the limitations set forth above regarding the characteristics of delivery, conservation and administration “.
By November 23 the Regions must communicate “for each province, the number and name of the hospitals within which it is considered useful for the vaccine to be delivered and administered; this hospital unit must be able to vaccinate at least 2,000 people “or” more people but with multiples of 1000 in 15 days “.
For each hospital unit thus identified “the number of personnel operating in it, for whatever reason; the number of health and social health personnel operating in the area, who will be able to reach the hospital in no more than 30-60 minutes; the availability of freezers inside it ”with characteristics such as allowing the storage of serum and the“ relative volume of available space ”.
