Arezzo, August 30, 2020 – With the intuition of those who have been doctors for many years, and among other things among the most popular in the province, he realized for himself that something was wrong. First a hint of hoarseness in the throat, that annoyance that occasionally turns into a cough, then a clue of those who have been tracking Covid for months: it seems that the neighbor was cooking pizzas in the garden, a few meters from hers .
And he noticed that he did not smell it at all: an alarm bell, one of many from which the entire history of the epidemic hangs. Alarm bells and word of mouth. A common tremor, by your doctor and the possible consequences of the contacts. Many call the mayor or the ASL to intensify the swabs, but in this field we know that the hygiene office is very well prepared to define the circle of people to monitor.
The pediatrician and his wife are not among the simple cases: both hospitalized, in infectious diseases, the first of the Covid pavilions to restart not at full throttle but with already three cases to follow step by step. And it is an element that perhaps explains why the two cases for now do not appear in the reports in recent days to the doctor’s country, which we know but avoid revealing to avoid making it recognizable: although in fact between social networks and scruples with where the professional and his family collaborate to reconstruct recently visited patients, the mystery is less and less hermetic.
He worked until a few days before the discovery, and like everyone there are meetings or dinners that expand the possible range of risk. However, until yesterday, as we explain alongside, there were no other infected people connected with this situation that keeps many with bated breath. While around the positive aspects there is a climate that is changing. What happened during two nights in Piazza Grande speaks for itself.
On Friday night an unprecedented queue: it even took the organizers of the tests in the square by surprise. The kits brought were two hundred, therefore large in comparison with the classic orders. And instead, they ended up unable to control everyone. After midnight there were still fifty people lined up, in front of the pole by the fountain. Everyone warned that time and means were running out but many stayed until the last in the hope of doing so.
Last night the duplication of the media was announced: a second station was announced as well as a reinforcement of the materials necessary for the test. Very easy: one puncture, the serological test gives the answer in a few minutes. Answers that the ASL does not make known but that in a square are fatally filtered and run like snacks that mark the rest of the space. Well, after midnight on Friday the tests were all negative: no asymptomatic, no signs of having crossed Covid even in recent months.
A fact that by itself certainly doesn’t drive away the clouds, but is at least reassuring compared to the number of infections these days, largely related to travel and vacations. Counter-proof? The station, after the shyness of the first day, is becoming a fixed stop for many travelers. An example: at 4 pm yesterday there were about thirty people queuing in front of the old tourist office, the sampling site.
And the global figure confirms it: from 7.30 to 18 yesterday, the tests carried out were 86, the record of these days. The total number now exceeds 200 near the airport. With two hundred on Friday in Piazza Grande, even if it is two different controls, we are on the threshold of five hundred, certainly exceeded at night in the heart of nightlife, in the face of the announced mobilization.
Many want to know and understand: either to help prevent health care or to avoid living in doubt. Which can be heavy at times, almost as heavy as Covid.
