An army, yes, but in white coats: volunteer doctors, specialized in fighting Covid in the room and helping the collapse of the health system. This was announced by the Regional Minister of Autonomies and Autonomies, Francesco Boccia. “A new call for the identification of 450 volunteer and specialized doctors is online on the Civil Protection website, who will be assigned to the Campania Region for the management of Covid-19 cases. These doctors join the workers health that they had already given the availability to be used by the Campania Region transmitted with the notice of October 24“.

The new call provides for the hiring, including through retirement, of 150 specialists in Anesthesia and Intensive Care, 100 specialized in Infectious Diseases, 100 specialized in Diseases of the Respiratory System and 100 specialized in Acceptance and Emergency Medicine and Surgery who will operate in the Campania region; all expenses will be borne by the state.

«After Calabria and Molise – added Minister Boccia – yesterday the Apulia Region also sent to Civil Protection the request for a field hospital to face the health emergency; The Army, to which our thanks always go, as well as the Italian Red Cross, will activate 40 beds in Barletta in the next few hours, including all services, intensive care and tampons included, which will relieve the pressure on the health networks of Apulia . We win this war against Covid if we fight together without controversy but, with loyal collaboration, all rowing in the same direction: contain the infection, give security to health workers and strengthen health networks ”.

The reference to the controversy is certainly directed to the president of the Campania Region. Vincenzo De LucaDuring the last meetings of the State-Regions conferences, the minister and the governor had a hard confrontation (the breakdown occurred last Thursday in an Army field hospital that the government proposed and the Region rejected).

According to the announcement, the contracts are timed and are independent working relationships of coordinated and continuous collaboration. This is what the professionals will gain: «the doctors in charge are recognized an hourly rate of 45 euros gross, all inclusive of all taxes, insurance and social charges and any other position that may be expected to be borne by the institution where the physicians work in accordance with this ordinance. Work performance cannot exceed 42 hours per week. Doctors residing outside the Campania region are also recognized as All-inclusive lump sum refund, equal to 1,000 euros per month, within the limits of food, accommodation and travel to the municipalities of the Campania Region ».

The announcement signed by the head of the national civil protection Angelo borrelli reports:

Due to the increase in the number of infections in connection with the extraordinary situation that has occurred in the Campania region with reference to the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, the President of the Campania region with note Covid-19 SA n. 19 / SA of 13 November 2020, requested the urgent availability of additional medical personnel.

The date is not insignificant: only on November 13 Campania officially requested new medical personnel? But hadn’t the dramatic situation been known for a long time?

In this sense, the replica of Palazzo Santa Lucia arrives at night:

In relation to the umpteenth false news spread on social networks according to which the request for doctors to the Government only began on November 13, the false news is totally denied and the note cited by National Civil Protection in its Ordinance is transmitted in annex, from which it is clearly shown how official requests are tracked already presented first on October 8 and then again on October 28 (not November 13), which, however, are subsequent to other repeated identical requests registered in previous months.

Therefore, the Civil Protection Law refers to the last – in order of time – request for doctors by the Campania Region, dated November 13. In turn, the request for 13 reiterates other requests to strengthen the number of doctors in Campania did on October 8th and 28th, so a little over a month ago. The question remains: on October 8, Campania’s health system was already suffering severely, but there was talk of a “miracle”.
