A 43-year-old man from Modena died of Covid.
“The man was hospitalized and had several risk factors,” says the Ausl. This is the second youngest victim since the start of the epidemic after health worker Anna Caracciolo, who died in the spring at age 36.
The death of the 43-year-old man is one of 13 recorded yesterday: the others range from 65 to 96 years. The total number of deaths from Covid since the beginning of the epidemic amounts to 602. A figure that represents 4.3% of the 13,731 total infections that affected the Modenese area.
On the contagious front, the province experienced another day of the black shirt in the region, with 551 cases once again, a figure higher than that of Bologna (513). Nobody talks about a case from Modena, but for about ten days the increase in infections is clearly higher than in the other provinces. A fact confirmed by the Gimbe Foundation that highlights how Modena is the worst province of Emilia Romagna to publish. In the weeks from October 27 to November 10, the incidence of new cases per hundred thousand inhabitants approached 800 (Bologna, for example, is below 600), while the increase in cases in the week of November 3 to 10 was higher than 35 percent. Another figure that the mayor Gian Carlo Muzzarelli exposed yesterday in the town hall is significant: in Modena for two weeks the rate of positive swabs in the processed has been above 30 percent. Yesterday the national average was 16 percent. The mayor added that local health authorities perform a very high number of swabs and that the laboratory system will be further strengthened.
Another worrying data is that of the positives today: yesterday they were 6,979. A number that has doubled in just 10 days.
Everything is reflected in the hospitalizations. The Region reported that yesterday there were 48 patients in intensive care in Modenes hospitals, three more than the day before. The Resuscitation departments of the Polyclinic and the Baggiovara hospital are prepared for any eventuality and although in the first phase 46 Covid beds had been enabled, the capacities have already been increased to cover each need. The number of people hospitalized in other Covid departments is also growing: of the 551 new positives, up to 40 were hospitalized in the various structures in Modena and in the area. In all, there were 259 symptoms.
At the regional level, Health Councilor Raffaele Donini sees encouraging signs: “We have noticed a stabilization of the data. We hope it is the sign of a slowdown in the pace of the epidemic, ”he told the Rai News microphones. To date, the Rt value in Emilia Romagna has been set at around 1.4 and appears to be declining. “We have between 11 and 12% positive results in the swabs and we are at around 80-90% saturation of the Covid and Intensive Care departments.
