Covid, the contagion does not stop, another 92 Tuscan cases

Covid cases date back to: new positives were recorded in all provinces. Returns from other regions weigh heavily with 20 infected people

FLORENCE – As the higher institute of health has underlined in recent days, the highest number of infections occurs locally, and returns between region and region, so it is also in Tuscany where today there have been 92 new cases of Covid of which only 5 can be linked to returns from abroad, of which 1 for holiday reasons (Croatia) while 20 are linked to returns from other Italian regions (13 Sardinia, 7 others).

Of the new 92 cases, 25 are contacts of other positive ones and 67 were instead tracked with the intense screening activity that in the last 24 hours has led the ASL to perform well 6,701 more buffers. The total number of people infected since the beginning of the emergency amounts to 11,687.

The average age of the new positives is 37 years, 32% are under 26 years of age and 34% are between 26 and 40 years old, and most are asymptomatic (63%) or have mild symptoms (25%).

New cases are registered in all provinces and are distributed as follows: Florence (18), Prato (3), Pistoia (11), Massa (22), Lucca (4), Pisa (10), Livorno (1 ), Arezzo (19), Siena (3), Grosseto (1).

Let’s look at the growth of new Tuscan cases in the last week:

– August 29: 92 new cases

– August 28: 82

– August 27: 99

– August 26: 161

– August 25: 34

– August 24: 44

– August 23: 59

Therefore, the total of new positives identified from August 23 to 29 is 571. The previous week, August 16-22, they had been 342.

In the last 24 hours, 4 cures were also recorded for a total of 9,125 people. There have been no new deaths and the total number of victims remains 1,141.

Therefore, the positives currently in Tuscany are 1,421, an increase of 53% compared to yesterday. Of these, 49 are hospitalized with symptoms of the disease, including 5 in serious condition in intensive care. Others 1,372 they are isolated at home with no or mild symptoms that do not require hospital care. On August 22, the current positives were 928.

People isolated at home as a precaution after contact with an infected person today are 3,543, 185 more than yesterday, all under the active surveillance of the Asl (Asl Centro 1,546, Northwest 1,356, Southeast 641). On August 22 the people were isolated 2,340, with a difference of 1203.

The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change compared to yesterday:

– 3,635 cases in total to date in Florence (18 more than yesterday), 616 in Prato (3 more), 818 in Pistoia (11 more),

– 1,210 to Massa (22 more), 1,513 in Lucca (4 more), 1,046 in Pisa (10 more), 549 in Livorno (1 more),

– 813 in Arezzo (19 more), 508 in Siena (3 more), 466 in Grosseto (1 more).

There are 513 positive cases reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions.

Tuscany is confirmed in tenth place in Italy in terms of the number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with around 313 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (Italian average 440 x 100,000, yesterday’s figure).

In the last 24 hours there have been no deaths, leaving 1,141 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic as follows: 417 in Florence, 52 in Prato, 81 in Pistoia, 175 in Massa Carrara, 146 in Lucca, 91 in Pisa, 63 in Livorno, 50 in Arezzo, 33 in Siena, 25 in Grosseto, 8 people died on Tuscan soil but they were residents outside the region.

Tuscany’s crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 30.6 x 100,000 residents versus 58.8 x 100,000 for the Italian average (11th region).
