Covid, shopping until late at night: the new hypotheses for the holidays

It will be a different but not canceled Christmas, the one that emerges from hypothesis circulating in government at this time. Therefore, a timid relaxation of ad hoc measures, but only in anticipation of more comforting data. And no discount for the Regions, with the country gradually turning red.

From holiday shopping to dinner recommendations, the new border timeline of the new anti-Covid provisions is December 3, the day the current Dpcm expires. Everything must be decided however, not before early December.

The focus is mainly on consumption restart, with due caution. The only possible exception for those in the red zones could be one “protection of the affections”, so that lonely people are not “abandoned”: which translated means the possibility of celebrating Christmas with family members by moving to any other region.

A ‘reflection’, the latter, which is currently being examined by experts and the government. Instead, it is impossible to establish “rules” about who will have to sit at the table for dinner: in this case there will be ‘recommendations’ that will take into account only the maximum number of people at the table (currently there are six) and foresee only the presence of family members who are usually present.

Parties and dances are prohibited, as well as dinners at the hotel, while places will be closed or limited in number, where it will be possible to respect distances.

Among the novelties, thehypothesis of an extension of the hours, with stores open until 10pm or 11pm and always with restricted access by customers. In recent days, the hypotheses of ‘extend’ the curfew until midnight, at least on holidays, and a ‘limited’ access in shopping centers, to avoid crowds.

However, everything will continue to be linked to the territories with the different provisions for the different areas – red, orange or yellow – and not everyone will celebrate in the same way. “The regulations are always respected and on all occasions, with the hope that in those days at the end of December the measures will be less restrictive and the situation less dramatic than it is today”, explains the undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Sandra Zampa.

To ask for “caution” He is also deputy director of the WHO Ranieri Guerra. And the virologist of the State University of Milan Fabrizio Pregliasco, comments: “It is clear that an expansion of the possibilities of movement for Christmas must be implemented, but we must a pretty sober christmas, because a free whole would lead us, in fact, to a third wave ”.
