‘First free places in November. Test also for children

Increased stocks for rapid serological tests in Bologna pharmacies. The first screening day, dedicated to students (0-18 years), relatives and students enrolled in the Assisted University in Emilia-Romagna, many have already registered a full number of applications for at least the next two weeks. “The first free places are on November 4 – explains Alessia Scaramelli from the Alberani pharmacy in via Farini – We can carry out a test every 30 minutes”. “It was an exceptional response – continues Elisa Tassi, owner of the Porto Pharmacy in via Marconi – We received by appointment, the applications started last week. This morning we did the second test on a 4-year-old boy accompanied by his mother.”

In the region, according to the first estimates by Federfarma ER, adherence was very high: around 800 pharmacies were added with a boom in reservations. It is also estimated, on the negative side, that on the first day alone, between 8 and 10,000 tests will be performed.

HOW DOES IT WORK – To date, this free pharmacy screening is aimed at a very specific target: students / students (0-18 years old and high school adults) and their cohabitants, but also university students with the region’s treating physician. The test is done by appointment and is done with self-collection (lancing device). The result comes in 15 minutes. In the event of a positive result, the citizen is contacted by the corporate Public Health Departments to perform a nasopharyngeal swab that will allow the detection of the possible presence of the virus. This allows the identification of people who have contracted the virus and are asymptomatic and consequently prevent the birth of Covid-19 outbreaks.
