The number of people hospitalized for Covid in Puglia hospitals is still very high: they are 1,993. A pressure that is creating several difficulties for health establishments, in which, these days, additional Covid beds are being installed, partially transforming some departments and using their staff, whose activity has been slowed by the blocking of non-urgent hospitalizations . imposed from the Region a few days ago.

The creation of intensive care places is more complicated, considering that for this specialty it is necessary to put anesthesiologists in service, of which today there is a serious shortage in Puglia.
Meanwhile, the transfer of patients to the maxi emergency center, created in the Fiera del Levante and managed by the Policinico di Bari, continues with more than 80 hospitalized people. In total, the Polyclinic today manages 300 Covid patients, 60 of whom are in intensive care.
In the worst period of the pandemic, the second wave, recorded in autumn, the university company had admitted 170 patients, 50 of them in intensive care.
