Switzerland requires quarantine for those arriving from Liguria, as it is considered one of the 59 risk areas in Europe. This was announced by the federal health office in bern. Anyone arriving from the Riviera will have to spend 10 days in isolation. The provision will come into force as of next Monday, September 28.

The list drawn up by the Swiss authorities also includes numerous districts of France (among others: Brittany, Corsica, Ile de France, Normandy, Côte d’Azur, Loire area) and some areas of Austria (including Vienna). Quarantine is also imposed on those arriving from various other states, including Belgium, Denmark, Great Britain, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia and Hungary. But Spain does not appear as the European nation with the highest number of infections. Kosovo and San Marino have been removed from the blacklist.

What caused the measure against Liguria was not revealed: a fairly large outbreak broke out in the La Spezia region, but otherwise it does not appear to have a different or worse situation in other parts of the peninsula. In fact, the Liguria region immediately responded to the Swiss authorities asking the Confederacy to retrace its steps. The Region sent a series of documents to the Swiss Consul General in Italy. decision distorted by uneven data supports Liguria. According to the Liguria Region, the Swiss Public Health measure is part of an automatic mechanism that is activated in the event that in an area there are more than 60 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days. In particular in the case of Liguria – read the note – this threshold corresponds to an average of 70 cases per day: this exceeding the threshold entirely attributable to the La Spezia cluster, the rest of the territory of Liguria remains mainly below the indicated parameter.

According to the procedure developed by the Berne Department of Public Health, anyone entering Switzerland from one of the risk areas must inform the cantonal authorities and fill out an online form. Violators can be fined 10,000 francs (approximately 9,000 euros).
