(ANSA) – ROME, DECEMBER 20 – New restrictions that went into effect at midnight in the UK against Covid-19, with London and parts of England locked in with a ‘level 4’ alarm, could last even months, according to the Minister of Health, Matt Hancock.
Interviewed by Sky News, Hancock said that, “now that we know how fast this new variant of the virus is spreading, it will be very difficult to keep it under control until the vaccine is widely distributed” in the country.

In the interview, the British minister said that the government, in the face of the mutated virus, acted “promptly” and invited those living in Tier 4 regions “to behave as if they already had Covid.” (HANDLE).
