(ANSA) – ROME, DECEMBER 08 – The Hong Kong government prepares to launch stricter anti-Covid measures to tackle a new wave of infections in the former British colony: Governor Carrie Lam announced today, CNN reports , the opening of restaurants will be limited to 18:00, while gyms, sports centers and beauty salons will have to close.
During a press conference, Lam stressed that the population is not respecting social distancing and that the new restrictions are necessary to “limit the number of people on the streets and reduce the flow of people.”
Hong Kong currently has more than 6,900 contagion cases and 112 deaths. The city is currently in what health authorities call the fourth phase of the pandemic, with dozens of new infections per day.
