We were talking about a race against time to install and equip, as requested by the Region, another 625 beds for Covid patients throughout the province of Brescia, 4,500 throughout Lombardy. Partially achieved goal: Brescia hospitals are now ready to receive up to 1208 coronavirus patients, almost 250 more in just 24 hours. And the adjustment will also continue throughout the day on Tuesday.
Covid beds in hospitals in Brescia
These are the objectives to be achieved by the different Asst (territorial social and health companies), with regional indication, according to the Brescia newspaper: 450 beds available (but that could be 500) for the Civil Hospitals; just over 230 for Asst del Garda (which manages the Desenzano, Gavardo and Manerbio hospitals); about 105 for Asst Franciacorta, all at the Chiari hospital; 154 to the Polyambulanza in Brescia; 218 in the San Donato Group clinics (City of Brescia, Sant’Anna and San Rocco).
Redistribute to reduce hospital burdens
In Brescia there are, therefore, more than 1,200 Covid beds available, of which more than a hundred in intensive care. The reorganization of hospitals, as mentioned, involves all structures in Lombardy: the goal is a redistribution of coronavirus patients to avoid dangerous overloads. In some areas, we recall, such as the provinces of Como and Varese, hospitalizations of the elderly have already been rejected, due to Covid or other pathologies. As also happened in Brescia and Bergamo just a few months ago.
Lombardy to the Orange Zone?
The well-informed also point out that the same reorganization could be very useful for the Region to “lower” the indicators that, to date, make an entire Lombardy a Red Zone (at least until early December, in the next Dpcm ). But the fall in the Rt index and the stabilization of the hospitalized – also thanks to the redistribution of these days – could bring the Lombardy region closer to the Orange Zone.
