Unfortunately, today there are sixteen deaths in Trentino due to covid-19: the total number of people who have died since the beginning of the pandemic in the province amounts to 800, 330 of which in the second wave of autumn.
If the bulletin released in the afternoon indicated 15 deaths, in the press conference launched shortly after 5.30 pm, the president of the province, Maurizio Fugatti, specified that unfortunately today the dead are precisely sixteen.
The number of hospitalized patients is on the rise: 379 in the infectious disease wards (+7 compared to yesterday), 52 (-2) in the high intensity zone and 48 (as yesterday) in resuscitation. However, today there are no patients discharged from the Trentino hospitals.
However, 107 more patients treated at home are cured than yesterday: their total amounts to 14,818.
182 new infections were detected with molecular swabs and another 187 were detected by rapid antigenic swabs. In general, new infections are therefore 369.
There are currently 2,604 positive people, sixty more than yesterday.
President Fugatti highlighted that the incidence of positives is close to the national average: 10.6. It should be noted that for the molecular swabs (yesterday 2,498 the processed ones) the positives identified are slightly more than 7%, while for the fast antigens it exceeds 19%.
There are several infections in Borgo Valsugana hospital, where several people, including health professionals, showed symptoms of covid during the weekend, but the Province reassures them by explaining that the situation is under control.
On the vaccination front, the manager Giancarlo Ruscitti explained that they have arrived and are in the installation phase the refrigerators needed to store the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine at -70 ° in the Trento and Rovereto hospitals.
Ruscitti estimates that all priority categories, those considered higher risk, will be vaccinated in spring and before autumn all affected citizens will be vaccinated.

The president also responded on the high mortality caused by covid in the province and pointed out that this is a common fact in the alpine areas and also near Trentino, an explanation however does not exist at the moment.
