PALERMO – The number of new coronavirus infections reaches a level never before reached in Sicily: 1,692 new cases between yesterday and today, discovered thanks to 9,455 swabs processed. The figure arises from the report of the Ministry of Health and the Higher Institute of Health. In the last 24 hours, 40 deaths and 302 cures have also been registered on the island.
At the moment, the total infected count is 24,914. Ordinary hospitalizations are increasing: yesterday they were 1,376, today 1,391. There is also a slight increase in occupied intensive and sub-intensive care places: from 202 yesterday to 205 today. The new positives are distributed as follows by province: Palermo 393, Catania 373, Ragusa 80, Messina 105, Trapani 317, Siracusa 114, Agrigento 135, Caltanissetta 63, Enna 112.
Meanwhile, the Epidemiological Observatory of the Regional Health Council specifies: Today’s report for Sicily, found in the daily bulletin of the Ministry of Health, is also inevitably affected by the active investigation of the coronavirus launched in many municipalities on the island through so-called drive-ins.
