Covid, 73 other Tuscans infected, three are serious

The new cases of coronavirus registered in Tuscany in the last hours have dropped. The number of patients admitted to intensive care increases: three in 24 hours

FLORENCE – In the last 24 hours in Tuscany there have been another 73 new cases of coronavirus, compared to yesterday from 98. On the other hand, serious patients admitted to intensive care in Tuscany have increased, three more in the last hours.

Of the 73 new 20 are contacts of other positive and 53 instead were tracked with the intense screening activity that in the last 24 hours has led to the ASL 4,438 more buffers. The total number of people infected since the beginning of the emergency amounts to 11,858.

The average age of the new positives is 38 years, 32% are under 26 years old, 29% between 26 and 40, 25% between 41 and 65, 14% are over 65 years old and most are asymptomatic (63%) or have mild symptoms (25 %).

Of the current 73 new cases, 11 may be linked to returns from abroad, of which 1 for holiday reasons (Croatia), while 5 may be linked to returns from other Italian regions (3 Sardinia, 2 Emilia Romagna). A case referring to a citizen residing outside the region whose positivity was notified in Tuscany.

New cases are recorded in all provinces except Siena and are distributed as follows: Florence (12), Prato (1), Pistoia (1), Massa (7), Lucca (11), Pisa (5), Livorno (5), Arezzo (22), Grosseto (8).

Let’s look at the growth of new Tuscan cases in the last week:

– August 31: 73 new cases

– August 30: 98

– August 29: 92

– August 28: 82

– August 27: 99

– August 26: 161

– August 25: 34

– August 24: 44

The total of new positives identified from August 24 to 31 is, therefore, 683. In the previous week, August 17-24, they had been 360.

The healed in Tuscany rise to 9,143 persons. There have been no new deaths and the total number of victims remains 1,141.

Therefore, the positives currently in Tuscany are 1,574, + 4.7% compared to yesterday. Of these, 60 are hospitalized with symptoms of the disease, of which 8 (3 more than yesterday) in serious condition in intensive care. Others 1,514 they are isolated at home with no or mild symptoms that do not require hospital care. On August 22, the current positives were 928.

There are 3,734 people isolated at home as a precaution after contact with an infected person, 47 more than yesterday, people, all under active surveillance because they have had contact with infected people (ASL Center 1,558, Northwest 1,487, South East 689).

The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change compared to yesterday.

– 3,673 cases in total to date in Florence (12 more than yesterday), 623 in Prato (1 more), 825 in Pistoia (1 more),

– 1,228 in Massa (7 more), 1,536 in Lucca (11 more), 1,066 in Pisa (5 more), 557 in Livorno (5 more), 842 in Arezzo (22 more), 509 in Siena, 485 in Grosseto (8 plus). There are 514 positive cases reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions (1 more).

Therefore, there are 14 cases found today in the Central Local Health Authority, 28 in the Northwest, 30 in the Southeast.

Tuscany is confirmed in tenth place in Italy in terms of the number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with around 318 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (Italian average of 444 x 100,000, yesterday’s figure).

Today there are no new deaths.
Therefore, there are 1,141 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic as follows: 417 in Florence, 52 in Prato, 81 in Pistoia, 175 in Massa Carrara, 146 in Lucca, 91 in Pisa, 63 in Livorno, 50 in Arezzo, 33 in Siena, 25 in Grosseto, 8 people died on Tuscan soil but they were residents outside the region.

Tuscany’s crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 30.6 x 100,000 residents versus 58.8 x 100,000 for the Italian average (11th region).
