PUGLIA – Today, Monday, August 31, 2020, there are far fewer cases in the region, although the number of hospitalized patients amounts to 123: the 1,974 Tests for Covid-19 coronavirus infection have emerged 38 positive cases: 28 in the province of Bari, 2 in the province of BAT, 6 in the province of Foggia, 1 in the province of Lecce, 1 outside the region. It is the Bari outbreak that causes the biggest problems. The new wave is mainly due to the importation of the virus from abroad (Spain, France, Greece, Malta, Albania, Brazil, Asia and Africa). There were no deaths of patients with covid. In the province of Lecce, SARS-CoV-2 circulates with less intensity, after the last weeks in which high school graduation trips had stimulated the number of infections. Today there is only one asymptomatic contagion, a Neapolitan who wanted to go to a campsite in a fraction of Otranto, who had to resort to hospital treatment. Although the epidemiological bulletin continues on a case from 48 hours ago, of which the general director of the ASL of Lecce, Rodolfo Rollo, speaks: “The case registered by the Department of Prevention refers to a resident of the province of Lecce subjected to swabbed in access to the emergency room where he had gone for other pathologies. “The last of the countries where the covid has advanced is Muro Leccese, which has 4 positives in isolation (one of which is not a resident): they are tourist contacts. In reality, civil protection places this country in the range of 6 to 10 infections because other patients from the first phase of the second wave are counted.
Since the beginning of the emergency, 305,020 tests have been carried out. 4,040 are the recovered patients. 844 are currently positive cases.
The total of positive Covid cases in Puglia is 5,440, divided as follows:
1,890 in the province of Bari;
442 in the province of Bat;
706 in the province of Brindisi;
1,377 in the province of Foggia;
670 in the province of Lecce;
313 in the province of Taranto;
39 attributed to residents outside the region;
3 province of unknown residence.
The ASL prevention departments have activated all procedures for the acquisition of anamnestic and epidemiological information, aimed at tracing close contacts: the “hunt for asymptomatic patients” never stops. It is the only way to extinguish the silent fires that advance.

Statement from the CEO of ASL Foggia, Vito Piazzolla: “The new positivity to COVID 19 registered in the province of Foggia in the last 24 hours is 6 in total. These are 2 foreign citizens present in the provincial territory and 4 contacts of cases already identified and tracked by the Company’s Hygiene Service. All are already subject to voluntary active health surveillance ”.
