In Italy there are 1,843,712 cases of coronavirus since the start of the pandemic: +17,938 compared to yesterday when they were +19,903 (+18,727 on December 11). The number of deaths amounts to 64,520: +484 compared to yesterday when they were +649 (+761 the day before). Italy is confirmed as the first European nation in deaths, after surpassing Great Britain, which today stands at 64,170.
The swabs processed in the last 24 hours were 152,697: up from 196,439 yesterday (they were 190,416 on December 11). The ratio between positives and swabs is growing: today it is 11.7% from 10.13% yesterday (it was 9.83% the day before). This is what emerges from the data of the Ministry of Health and Civil Protection.

The pressure on hospitals is diminishing with the number of patients currently hospitalized at 27,735 (-331) and that of patients in intensive care reaching 3,158 (-41). In this scenario, however, the number of positives currently increases, which is now 686,031 (+1,183), of which 655,138 (+1,555) are in home isolation. Those cured continue to grow, reaching 1,093,161 (+16,270).
The regions
The regions with the highest number of new positives are Veneto with 4,092 (yesterday 5,098), Lombardy with 2,335 (2,736), Emilia-Romagna with 1,940 (yesterday 1,807), Lazio with 1,339 (yesterday 1,194), Campania with 1,219 (1,414), Puglia with 1,175 (yesterday 1,478), Piedmont with 1,011 (yesterday 1,443). All other regions have fewer than 1,000 new infections.
Regarding the highest number of victims, Lombardy registers 144 today (yesterday 85), Emilia-Romagna 43 (yesterday 82), Piedmont 36 (yesterday 59), Campania 34 (yesterday 47), Tuscany also 34 (yesterday 35), Veneto 32 (yesterday 110), Puglia 23 (yesterday 43).
