New coronavirus infections in Sicily continue to increase. According to data from the Ministry of Health, 399 (366 the day before) new cases have been detected in the last 24 hours with 7,444 swabs processed. The Region specifies that 14 are migrant hosts in the Lampedusa hotspot.
There are 468 hospitalized patients with symptoms (compared to 447 yesterday), while 52 (+ 3 compared to yesterday) require intensive care for a total of 520 hospitalized people. There are 4,967 citizens in home isolation. The discharges / recovered are 4,854. Unfortunately, there are seven new victims, all between 60 and 86 years old (the total deaths have been 350 since the start of the pandemic). Five in Palermo, there are 3 men and 2 women. The other two cases refer to two deaths, one in Messina and the other in Agrigento.
This is the subdivision of the new cases by province: Palermo 154; Catania 126; Messina 22; Trapani 19; Syracuse 19; Ragusa 15; Enna 14; Caltanissetta 21 and Agrigento 9.

Stop selling alcohol after 9pm
As of October 17, the sale of alcoholic beverages of any strength will be prohibited from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the following day by neighborhood businesses, medium-sized sales structures and vending machines. This was established by Mayor Leoluca Orlando who signed a special ordinance that will be in effect until November 13. During the same period, it will also be prohibited to consume alcoholic beverages of any strength in public areas, including parks, gardens and villas open to the public. The structures of the Municipality closed
New cases of coronavirus positivity require the closure of schools and municipal structures. The last in order of time to suspend activities as a precaution are the Pellicano nursery school, the PalaOreto, the Rizzo plexus of the Arenella inclusive institute, the Vito Schifani stadium and the Domino municipal nursery school, in the Pallavicino area. Instead, the offices of the second district – Brancaccio decentralized station in via S. Ciro and those of the Padre Spoto decentralized station in via Spoto will reopen next Monday. The emergency structure
Salvatore Scondotto, president of the Italian Epidemiology Association is the new coordinator of the health support structure for the Covid emergency in Sicily. The situation in Italy
The new coronavirus bulletin from the Ministry of Health confirms the worrying trend of a constant increase in the number of new cases of positivity to Sars-Cov-2 that have led to the number of Covid patients reaching 100,000 at the levels of the beginning of April. Today alone, of the 98,000 Italians examined by covid centers, 8,804 new cases have been diagnosed, the highest number ever recorded in Italy (surpassing the previous record recorded yesterday).
