The first day of the orange zone in Sicily begins with a record of daily infections: 1,423 new cases were found on the island in 9,525 processed swabs (14.9% of positives found). These are the effects of increased testing in the population, the results of which (hopefully) should be seen in about a month. Because in theory, the more positive they are, the more they should “isolate” and therefore not infect. Is it so? We will see. In the meantime, however, unfortunately today’s newsletter marks a painful +34 deaths: so in Sicily the victims of the Covid exceed six hundred, reaching 628.
Compared to yesterday, the situation in hospitals is almost constant: 1,157 (+10) people are hospitalized, while patients in intensive care go to 159 (+2). There is another record to highlight, this time more encouraging: today there are 402 cured. So the current positives are 19,513, of these 18,197 are in home isolation. These are the new cases by province: Palermo 321, Catania 292, Ragusa 292, Messina 157, Trapani 121, Syracuse 91, Agrigento 62, Caltanissetta 47, Enna 40.

Today (Friday, November 6) 1,148 rapid and 98 positive swabs were made, immediately subjected to molecular swabbing.
In eight days of activity, a total of 8,524 swabs were made and 792 were positive. Tomorrow (Saturday) the projection activity is scheduled, as well as at the Mediterranean Fair (9-16 hours), also in Monreale (10-14).
The municipal police offices in via la Malfa are closed
The offices of the Municipal Police Headquarters in via Ugo La Malfa will be closed to the public from this afternoon until the end of Monday, November 9. The Municipality announces it by note. During the weekend, rapid shock absorbers, drive-ins installed in more than 30 cities on the island
Fast buffers by car in the main Sicilian cities. After the experience in the minor archipelagos and the Palermo Mediterranean Fair, the campaign to actively monitor the Coronavirus on the population of Sicily continues on specific objectives, as planned by the regional health department at the suggestion of the Scientific Technical Committee. The initiative, promoted by the Sicilian Region with the Asp and in collaboration with Anci Sicilia and the local administrations, is still directed, at this stage, to the world of schools.
Thus, tomorrow, Saturday, November 7, and Sunday, 8, in more than 20 centers (with populations greater than 30 thousand inhabitants), some 30 drive-in cinemas will be set up with dedicated trails where the sample will be taken by means of a rapid test that, if positive , it will be repeated immediately through the molecular swab for the necessary confirmation as required by current sanitary protocols. In line with what is organized in Palermo (where the campaign takes place), thanks to the valuable collaboration with the regional office of the school and with the directors of the main schools, during the weekend the teaching and non-teaching staff, students and their families will have access to the drive in installed in the sites identified by the local administrations with the Asp. Participation in the campaign is voluntary.
The drive-ins will be operational from tomorrow in the following cities: Caltanissetta, Gela, Ragusa, Comiso, Modica, Vittoria, Palermo, Monreale, Enna, Catania, Adrano, Paternò, Caltagirone, Acireale, Messina, Barcelona, Trapani , Alcamo, Mazara del Vallo, Marsala, Castelvetrano, Avola, Agrigento.
The situation in the rest of Italy
In the last 24 hours, 37,809 new cases of 134,566 tests have been registered. Regarding the pressure on hospitals, 749 new hospital beds are occupied (24,005 in total) and 124 in intensive care (2,515 in total). Unfortunately, there are 446 deaths today. Regarding the regions of the new cases, 9,934 are registered in Lombardy, 4,878 in Piedmont and 4,508 in Campania. The latest coronavirus bulletin published yesterday, Thursday, November 5, registered 1,140 new places occupied in hospitals and 99 in intensive care, 445 deaths and 34,505 infected compared to 134,550 cases analyzed.
