The number of processed swabs increases and the number of positives increases, albeit slightly: in the last 24 hours in Sicily, 1,698 people were found to be infected with the coronavirus out of 10,774 tests carried out (15.7%). The good news comes from the hospital front with just 4 more hospitalized than yesterday (1,505 in total) and “only” three more patients in intensive care (227 in total), but also from the high number of cured, which is 668. Unfortunately, still 39 victims remain to be registered, bringing the total to 971 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The current positives are, therefore, more than thirty thousand (30,756 to be precise), of these 29,024 are followed at home and do not require hospital treatment. More than five hundred new cases in the province of Palermo (543), 456 in Catania, 214 in Ragusa, 184 in Messina, 81 in Agrigento, 67 in Caltanissetta, 59 in Enna, 48 in Syracuse and 46 in Trapani.
Projection in schools, beginning of the Mother Teresa Institute of Calcutta
243 swabs were made this morning by doctors from the Usca school of the ASP of Palermo at the Mother Teresa Institute of Calcutta. The screening, on a voluntary basis, was aimed at teachers, non-teaching staff and students. The activity is part of the coronavirus prevention campaign promoted in collaboration with the Palermo City Council and school officials (Watch the video service).

According to the bulletin released today by the Ministry of Health, in the last 24 hours, 32,191 new cases of Covid-19 have been registered. The swabs performed were 208,500, while the deaths were 731. The updated data were communicated by Gianni Rezza, general director of Prevention of the Ministry of Health: “Some 208,500 swabs were made. From the data we see that there is a stabilization in the number of positive tests per day, perhaps a slight decrease. There does not seem to be any growth. Admissions in the medical area have increased, and today they are 538 – Rezza added – and the admissions in intensive care are also increasing and today they are 120. Unfortunately we have 731 deaths, effect of the cases of the last 2 months. The percentage of positive tests on the total – he concludes – continues today over 10%, around 15%. A quite high figure “.
